A Sacred Step in Your Faith Journey
BAPTISMS at First Congregational Church of Malone
Baptism is a profound expression of faith, symbolizing the washing away of sin and the beginning of a new life in Christ. At First Congregational Church of Malone, we celebrate baptism as a sacred rite, welcoming individuals into the Christian community and affirming God’s grace in their lives.
-
We offer baptism to individuals of all ages—infants, children, youth, and adults. Whether you’re new to the faith or have been on your spiritual journey for some time, baptism is a meaningful step in affirming your commitment to Christ.
-
For families wishing to baptize infants or young children, we provide a ceremony that includes parental vows and congregational support, affirming our collective commitment to raise the child in the Christian faith.
-
Adults who have not been previously baptized are encouraged to take this step of faith. Our pastoral team will guide you through the process, ensuring you understand the significance and commitments involved.
-
Baptisms are typically held during our regular Sunday worship services, allowing the congregation to witness and celebrate this important milestone with you. Special arrangements can also be made for private ceremonies if preferred.
-
Prior to baptism, individuals (or parents, in the case of infant baptism) will meet with a member of our pastoral staff to discuss the meaning of baptism and to prepare for the ceremony.
-
We offer a sprinkling of water on the head.
-
Godparents or sponsors are optional. We have families that do it both ways.
